Amédée River Trail Association

This trail includes more than 27 kilometers of paths for mountain biking, hiking, or cross country skiing in winter.  Information kiosk and equipment rental.

Year round, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (cross country skiing)

Boisé de la Pointe Saint-Gilles

Located in the heart of Baie-Comeau, this 175 hectares woodland along the majestic St. Lawrence River has 18 kilometers of paths in a wooded forest, with rest areas, sculptures, La Fontaine fables, Japanese bridges - in short, a garden of delights. Boisé de la Pointe Saint-Gilles is remarkable, with urban, forest, seaside and lake environments in just 1 km2—few places can rival that! Walk to the cliff’s edge and be entertained by the harbor seals in their stranding grounds and other species like the common goldeneye, Barrow’s goldeneye, and great blue heron.

Jardin des Glaciers Maritime Adventure Park

The Maritime Adventure Park spans some 40 km2 east of Baie-Comeau in Jardin des Glaciers.  Twenty thousand years ago, the Laurentian ice sheet left its spectacular mark on the area.  Today you can admire the phenomena left behind by the glaciers, including 17 km of one of the world’s most diverse shorelines.  Learn how the last Ice Age shaped the landscape through a host of outdoor and interpretive activities as well as network of trails and lookout points.  There are three guided tours to choose from:  « Shell Valley », « Peoples of the Ice » and « On the Water ».

OBSERVATION POINTS

Belvédère Conan Lookout

The Conan Lookout offers a magnificent view of the Saint-Sacrement district and the mouth of the Manicouagan River. Don’t miss the exceptional sunsets!

Vieux-poste

This site is located at the juncture of the Amédée River, the mouth of the Manicouagan River, and the St. Lawrence River. With its cascades and falls, it is the ideal spot to relax. Hikers can enjoy the unmarked, rustic trails.

 

 

Parc des Explorateurs

The park offers kayakers easy access to the water in an astonishingly beautiful setting alongside the dams.

Services and activities:

Rest area, tourist information office, wildlife interpretive center.

 

Parc de la grotte de Sainte-Amélie

Laid out in 1947 in honor of the Virgin Mary by the sisters of the Sainte-Croix congregation, this gorgeous park in the middle of a historic neighborhood focuses on religious themes. Volunteers have restored and maintain the peaceful, flower-filled park that affords a marvelous view of the bay and St. Lawrence River.

 

Parc du Lac-Aber

Parc du Lac-Aber is located in the Saint-Georges neighborhood. It offers a host of fun summer activities for the whole family from late June to late August.

-Skate ramp and basketball hoop
-Tennis and volleyball court

The multipurpose center is open to the public in the summer, providing access to public bathrooms.

Park monitors are on hand in the summer to ensure that Parc du Lac-Aber is a fun and safe place where everyone can have a good time. First aid services are available when park monitors are on duty.

Parc Manicouagan

Interpretive signs on the park trails explain the geological characteristics, flora and fauna of the area at the mouth of the Manicouagan River.

Services and activities:

Bird watching, bike trail, large lawn area and picnic area.

 

Parc des Pionniers

Burn off some energy in Parc des Pionniers’ unique setting. This riverside park is a favorite gathering spot for locals.

Services and activities:

Paved bike trail, playground, picnic area, petanque, outdoor stage, access to Champlain beach.

 

Parc de la rivière Amédée

Extending for more than a kilometer along the Amédée River, this park is located in the middle of a residential and commercial district.

Services and activities:

Picnic area, walking trail.

 

 

PARC DE SAINT-NOM-DE-MARIE

This large urban park offers an outdoor pool and a number of activities for the whole family to enjoy—another opportunity to have fun in the sun in the heart of Baie-Comeau.

 

 

Sentiers du club de ski Norfond

Rustic trails for hiking and mountain biking, with cross country skiing in the winter. Information kiosk, warming huts and 4 km of lighted trails.
